Employer: US Army Alaska Project: Primary GIS Analyst for multi-year Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). Evaluated potential impacts of three primary sites to construct and operate a 10,000 acre live-fire training range. Analysis included: line of sight, noise, wildfire risks, wetlands, cultural resources, floodplain, recreation, and wildlife. Employer: The Nature Conservancy Partner: Southwest Alaska Salmon Habitat Partnership Project: Collaborated with Alaska Dept. of Fish & Game staff to file an instream flow reservation with the AK Dept. of Natural Resources. Employer: The Nature Conservancy Partners/Clients: Native Village of Wainwright, US Environmental Protection Agency Project: Through a series of nearly 20 maps documented traditional knowledge (TK) of important fish and wildlife species and habitats. Combined collections of previous studies (1970's, 80's, and 90's) with recent TK gathered via interviews and mapping sessions. Employer: The Nature Conservancy Partners/Clients: Mat-Su Salmon Partnership Project: Worked with multiple agencies and a partnership science committee to identify salmon habitat data, catalog human impacts within the basin, and identify conservation opportunities, produced 22 maps. Employer: The Nature Conservancy Partner: Nushagak-Mulchatna Watershed Council and five Villages in the basin. Project: Distilled information from dozens of paper maps, written notes, and translations from Yup`ik field interviews conducted in the communities of Ekwok, New Stuyahok, Koliganek, Portage Creek, and Aleknagik. I created a comprehensive geospatial database of Traditional Use sites for freshwater fish, salmon, plants, waterfowl and land mammals. |
